A few days ago, we had the pleasure and honor to welcome at our premises Dr. Barbara Sourkes, Professor at Stanford University, a clinical psychologist with many years of experience and great clinical, educational and research work in the field of Pediatric Palliative Care.
During her visit to Merimna, two workshops of 4 hours each were held. The first one was focused on Paediatric Palliative Care and specifically on the psychosocial support of the child with a serious illness and his/her family and was addressed to the multidisciplinary team of the Paediatric Palliative Care Service at home. The second was on supporting children after the loss of a loved one and involved the psychologists of the Bereavement Support Counselling Centre in Athens.
Care workers had the opportunity to talk with Dr. Sourkes and gain valuable insights from her experience.
