Merimna - Who We Are
Μerimna fosters cooperation with national, European and international, governmental and non-governmental organisations in the field of Paediatric Palliative Care and Grief Counselling for children and their families.
Merimna also participates in national and international Committees/Working Groups to promote and ensure the right of children and their families to receive the support they need in serious illness and death.
National Committee for Palliative Care
In October 2023, the National Commitee on Palliative Care was established as the government’s main Interdisciplinary Advisory Body on Palliative Care. Danai Papadatou, Professor Emeritus of Clinical Psychology and President of Merimna was appointed Chair of the Committee.
Partnership with Hospices Of Hope
Merimna became member of the network of Hospices of Hope in Decemper 2021. Hospices of Hope is a UK charity that aims to create and support a network of palliative care services in countries of South-East Europe, to provide quality care to as many people as possible who need it.
As a member of the Hospices of Hope network, Merimna is actively involved in the development of the network’s strategy and in the exchange of know-how, advocacy and other empowerment activities. Other members of the network are located in Romania, the Republic of Moldova, Serbia and Albania.
Bereavement Network Europe (BNE)
Merimna joined the Bereavement Network Europe (BNE) in September 2024. BNE is a broad-based collaboration of organisations, professionals, and volunteers from nations across Europe that works to improve support and understanding for bereaved people. Their vision is that there should be a Europe-wide culture of compassion and provision of excellent support for bereaved people.
Merimna’s experts participate in scientific conferences and coordination meetings organized on issues related to bereavement for children and families, promoting the mission of BNE.
