Christmas is a celebration of hope and joy for young and old. At Merimna, in Athens and Thessaloniki, we organized, together with friends and volunteers, a special Christmas celebration for the children we care for and their families.
At the Counseling Center of Thessaloniki, on Wednesday, December 20, the event started with a theatrical play for the children, with the excellent Penny Tsikoura and Aphrodite Rizou from Dili Dili. Then we sang Christmas songs and young and old alike wrote wishes for the New Year, which we hung on the Christmas tree. Santa Claus, Apostolos Deligiorgis, visited the celebration, handing out gifts and wishes and Zoe Dai, make-up artist, from Make-up and Beauty by Zoi offered face painting to children, adding a creative touch to the festive spirit of the event.
In Athens, on Friday 22 December, we all made ornaments and wishes for the Christmas tree, special macramé creations, we painted and we had fun. Sevi Serneslidi and Georgia Hraniotis, from The Roots Handmade jewelry workshop, organized a creative workshop of jewelry, making charms and key chains. The team of The Human Wave Project- Papagou/Cholargou, made sure there were beautiful handmade gifts for all our little ones. Alexandra Neroutsou, Marilena Papavassiliou, and Panagiotis Goumalatsos, from the team of The Human Wave Project- Papagou/Cholargou, loaded their sleigh with gifts, brought them to the children of Merimna and actively participated in our celebration with great fun and enthusiasm.
Many thanks to all the contributors to this beautiful celebration and the families who were there! Thanks to the presence of young and old, Merimna was filled with laughter, songs and warmth.
