Merimna participated in the 18th International Conference on Palliative Care

Merimna participated in the 18th International Conference of the European Association for Palliative Care (EAPC), which took place in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, on 15-17 June 2023. The conference was entitled “Equality and Diversity” in the context of Palliative Care, with talks and discussions focusing on the inclusion of all people with life-threatening illnesses in services that ensure optimal quality of life. Danae Papadatou, Emeritus Professor of Clinical Psychology at the University of Athens and President of Merimna, was invited as a keynote speaker at the Conference. Ms Papadatou presented the modern model of approach to family care where the focus is on the therapeutic relationship developed with health professionals. She also moderated a roundtable on “Listening to the voices of children” with Professor Barbara Sourkes as the speaker. Ms. Gerardi Alexia, a member of the interdisciplinary team of the Pediatric Home Palliative Care Service, also participated in the conference, as part of Merimna’s continuing education policy to better train professionals and improve the services provided to children and their families.
