Symposium at the Democritus University of Thrace

A very special symposium was held at the Democritus University of Thrace on 11-12 May in Komotini, on the topic “Social service responses to migration” with many presentations on research and practices by speakers from Europe and the world. Danai Papadatou, representing the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and Merimna, was invited to make a keynote presentation on: “Living in liminality: how unaccompanied minors are affected and supported in Greece?”

The presentation concerned part of the findings from the nationwide research on the mental health of unaccompanied minor refugees in Greece, funded by ELIDEK (Hellenic Foundation for Research and Innovation). The Symposium was extremely interesting as it highlighted remarkable psychosocial practices implemented with refugee adults and children in Europe, Cyprus and other eastern countries of the world.
